Thesis guidelines

It’s the end of the academic year, and Langsdale Library would like to congratulate all of those students who have completed their master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation.

Lots of students have asked about the library’s policy on theses and dissertations. Here it is:

Thesis Binding:

The University requires students to provide Langsdale Library with two copies of all Masters and Doctors theses. The copies must include a sign-off page with the original signatures of the student’s dissertation committee to be considered an official copy. Library copies must be submitted on acid free paper (sometimes labeled “dissertation or thesis paper”) for preservation purposes. The left page margin should be one-quarter inch wider than normal to accommodate binding. Langsdale Library covers the cost of binding Langsdale copies.

If the student wants additional copies bound, the charge is $10 per copy by check in advance. The check should be payable to “University of Baltimore.” The bindery pickups materials every two weeks with a two week turn around time.

Bring your thesis to Langsdale Library, Room 2, Monday thru Friday during normal business hours.

Your degree program may have more specific formatting requirements. Ask your adviser for details.
