Branding Materials\" width=\"210\" height=\"272\" \/>A TEAM EFFORT<\/strong><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Congratulations to Merrick School of Business student\u2014and first-year Ratcliffe Entrepreneurship Fellow\u2014Rebecca Thompson for tying for the top vote in the category of \u201cExisting Business Ventures\u201d and earning the \u201cHustle Award\u201d in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ubalt.edu\/news\/news-releases.cfm?id=3755\">9th Annual Rise to the Challenge Pitch Competition<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Coincidentally, her winning company, Crate Craft &amp; Co.\u2014which turns easy-to-follow DIY projects into fun, online events\u2014also secured a win for a team of students in the College of Arts and Sciences Integrated Design program. In 2020-21:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Regina Bento<\/strong>, BG&amp;E Chair and professor of management, and <strong>Lourdes White<\/strong>, Lockheed Martin Chair in accounting, pursued research on managerial decision-making during a pandemic, and the ethics and risks associated with it.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Mikhail Pevzner<\/strong>, the Ernst &amp; Young Chair in Accounting, pursued research on the reliance on part-time labor and operating efficiencies.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 J. William Middendorf Distinguished Professor <strong>Praneet Randhawa<\/strong>, associate professor of marketing, studied how service employees\u2019 burnout and engagement occurs in B2B (Business-to-Business) and the impact of manager supervision.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Harry Y. Wright Chair <strong>Ting Zhang<\/strong>, associate professor of economics, and winner of the T. Rowe Price Excellence in Teaching award, <strong>Dan Gerlowski<\/strong>, professor of economics, delved into the topic of COVID-19 and how teleworking may be a new normal. Bogomolny Library through The University of Baltimore Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>The CLIR announced several awards, totaling $553,000, to fund 17 \u201cRecordings at Risk\u201d projects. The Bogomolny Library received $49,225 for their effort\u2014a 12-month project titled \u201cPreserving and Providing Access to Baltimore Television News Station (WMAR), 1980-1985\u201d\u2014which will be led by the Special Collections and Archives department.<\/p>\n<p>Special Collections and Archives maintains a rich collection of WMAR-TV news recordings, which includes unique footage depicting significant historical events, cultural and racial issues, and political and social changes in the Baltimore region.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ubalt.edu\/news\/news-releases.cfm?id=3762\"><strong>Read the full announcement here&gt;&gt;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"less\">WMAR-TV News in Baltimore, Maryland was the first television station in Baltimore and the eleventh in the United States. Its first broadcast aired on October 30, 1947. The station was initially owned by the A. S. Abell Company, which also owned the Baltimore Sun newspapers. WMAR was the first television station in Baltimore and the second in the United States to join the CBS network. In 1981, the station\u2019s affiliation changed, and it<\/span><span class=\"more\">\u00a0joined the NBC network. In 1986, the A. S. Abell Company was purchased by the Times Mirror Company, who kept the Baltimore Sun newspapers but sold WMAR-TV to Gillet Communications. The E. W. Scripps Company purchased WMAR-TV in 1990. WMAR-TV (channel 2) has been an ABC-affiliated television station owned by the E.W.
