As\u00a0UBalt\u00a0closely examines our web accessibility policies, we&#8217;re inspired by the broader conversation on how to effectively support students in need of disability and access services.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Inbar Av-Shalom, Nisha Malhotra, and Ali Tatum offer insights into inclusive teaching strategies and the importance of empathy in educational design\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facultyfocus.com\/articles\/equality-inclusion-and-diversity\/bridging-the-gap-overcoming-barriers-in-higher-ed-for-students-with-disabilities-including-neurodivergent-learners\/\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in their article for Faculty Focus<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, reminding us of the power of understanding and accommodation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Mark McCormack summarizes the results from\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/er.educause.edu\/articles\/2023\/8\/educause-quickpoll-results-risks-and-opportunities-in-higher-education-accessibility\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a recent EDUCAUSE QuickPoll<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0to highlight the crucial role technology plays in either facilitating or hindering accessibility. This calls for a holistic approach to educational technology, ensuring that digital resources are not just compliant but truly accessible to all students.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">At\u00a0UBalt, we recognize the importance of not only navigating but also leading the charge toward more accessible higher education. Our initiatives aim to create an environment where students with disabilities feel supported, valued, and understood. In this spirit, CELTT\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">will offer accessibility training for faculty through two types of 60-minutes sessions:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Guiding Principles of Accessibility<\/span><\/i><br \/>\nAfter this session, you will be able to apply the guiding principles of POUR (Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust) to create a range of materials that are accessible to all users.
