Now that the academic year is winding down and we continue to prepare for June\u2019s AI Summit, the University System of Maryland is offering a timely opportunity to expand your AI competencies on your own schedule.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Through a partnership with the National Association of Higher Education Systems and Google, USM faculty are invited to enroll in two self-paced professional development courses this summer:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Google AI Essentials<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0(10 hours): Learn how AI can support your productivity, creativity, and critical thinking in everyday tasks. Whether it\u2019s streamlining your inbox or organizing complex projects, this course walks you through the basics of AI-supported work\u2014no prior experience required.<\/span><\/li>\n<li data-aria-posinset=\"2\" data-aria-level=\"2\"><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Google Prompting Essentials<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0(7 hours): Build a reusable prompt toolkit and explore real-world use cases for generative AI in education, planning, and communication. You&#8217;ll also examine ethical and responsible use of AI tools, making this a valuable resource for both beginners and those looking to deepen their prompting strategies.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">These courses are free to USM faculty and run in two-month cycles: May 1\u2013June 30 and July 1\u2013August 31. You\u2019ll earn a certificate from Google upon completion, and if you finish during the first cycle, you\u2019ll walk into this summer\u2019s AI Summit with a stronger foundation in generative AI\u2014and new strategies to bring back to your classroom, research, or department work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Express your interest by\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">April 22<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0using\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/r\/N1TEh61yQE\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">this Microsoft Form<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.
