I am extremely proud of all that CFCC has accomplished and am deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed to CFCC’s work.

Since CFCC’s beginning, we have been deeply involved in family justice system reform, advocating for unified family courts, the application of therapeutic jurisprudence and the use of an ecological approach in family law matters. We have worked with courts and the legal community nationally and internationally to adopt perspectives and practices that lead to positive outcomes for children and families who come to court.

Through the CFCC Student Fellows Program, an experiential law school course for JD candidates, and the Post-JD Certificate in Family Law, CFCC has created life-changing opportunities for students and family law practitioners to broaden their understanding of families’ problems and to see the power of therapeutic jurisprudence and an ecological perspective in action.

Our Truancy Court Program is an excellent demonstration of CFCC’s and the University of Baltimore’s commitment to community engagement, a valuable contribution to Maryland schools and communities, and a national model in data-driven truancy prevention strategies.

As 2020 unfolds, I invite you to celebrate with us as we share in-depth insights into CFCC’s passion, commitment and work.

Professor Barbara Babb

Founder and Director, Sayra and Neil Meyerhoff Center for Families, Children and the Courts

In 2020, the Sayra and Neil Meyerhoff Center for Families, Children and the Courts (CFCC) celebrates two important milestones: the 20th anniversary of the founding of CFCC and the 15th anniversary of the Center’s largest community-based program, the Truancy Court Program.
