CFCC Welcomes New Executive Director and Case Manager<\/b><\/p>\n

This summer, CFCC welcomes Aubrey Edwards-Luce as the Center\u2019s new executive director, and Christopher Kelly, a former Truancy Court Program (TCP) intern and Anthony \u201cBubba\u201d Green Star Player Awardee, who joins our team in the newly created role of TCP Case Manager.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Aubrey Edwards-Luce, Executive Director<\/p><\/div>\n

Aubrey Edwards-Luce<\/b> is a zealous advocate for children, youth, and families. CFCC Faculty Director Shanta Trivedi said, \u201c<\/span>We could not be more excited to have Aubrey join us. Aubrey has spent her entire career advocating for children while emphasizing the importance of family and community. <\/span>She is a natural collaborator and centers the voices of those with lived experience in legal systems in everything she does. We are grateful for her policy expertise and are so excited to work together to bring her ideas to life.\u201d About joining CFCC, Aubrey said, \u201cI am deeply grateful for the opportunity to build on CFCC\u2019s incredible legacy as we launch new efforts to prevent unnecessary court involvement by supporting children and families in ways that are responsive to their needs and experiences.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Aubrey comes to CFCC after serving as Vice President of Child Welfare and Youth Justice at First Focus on Children. In her more than 15 years of experience working with and alongside children and families at risk or already court involved, she has approached the complex issues families face from a variety of vantage points, including in an informal juvenile court supervisions program, a restorative justice-based neighborhood accountability program for youth, a victim\u2019s services office, and as a guardian <\/span>ad litem<\/span><\/i> attorney for children in abuse and neglect proceedings. In 2020, she launched the Child Welfare and Race Equity Collaborative. The collaborative brings together federal policy strategists and lived-experience experts from across the country who are focused on transforming the child welfare system into an anti-racist system that supports providing children and families with the freedom to thrive in their homes and communities. Christopher Kelly, TCP Social Worker<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/b>Christopher Kelly <\/b>returned to CFCC this spring as the TCP Case Manager. This new position was created to focus on outreach and advocacy, and to refer TCP students and families to service providers who can support the complex needs that can serve as obstacles to TCP students\u2019 academic, social, and emotional growth<\/span>. <\/span>A native of Baltimore City, Christopher attended Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated from Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High School before going on to receive a B.S. in history and an M.S. in criminal justice from the University of Baltimore. Christopher previously interned with CFCC as a TCP law clerk, and was awarded the Anthony \u201cBubba\u201d Green Star Player Award for his dedication to the program.
