Good evening!
This week, I focused on adjusting the model’s humanoid shape to read more accurately. I also spent a lot of time adding smaller details through new objects in the scene. These will eventually be combined for proper rigging.
First I created the rib cage apparatus found on the character. This was created by bringing a cube into the scene, extruding it and adjusting it’s vertices to create the desired shape. This was repeated for the spine, which was then joined to the sternum to be one object. The ribs were extruded from the sternum, then the edges were bridged to the spine’s to connect the object together.
A basic shape for the pouch was created from a cube. A sphere was cut in half and added to it to make a button.
The shape of the hands were adjusted.
The gas mask was given more detail. Shoelaces were added to the boots.
The plus sign found on the coat was made from a cube and both inward and outward extrusions.
The connection mechanism for the tube was created using a cylinder and extrusions. This object was duplicated and mirrored for the same shape found on the gas mask. A similar detail was added to the top of the gas tank using a near identical approach. The valve was also updated and created to be it’s own object.
The detail found on the shirt were created with extrusions.
The tubes from the gas mask were created with cylinders and extrusions. Details on the mouthpiece of the gas mask were adjusted and updated.
With the model finally blocked out, I look forward to sculpting finer details in the week ahead!
