This week, I finalized the color palette for the character.
I then experimented with texturing in Maya and Blender. Due to the high poly nature of the model, both Maya and Blender were having a hard time UV unwrapping the mesh without crashes. Because of this, I had to use the “decimate geometry” tool to optimize the model. While this lead to ridges in the model, it can now be textured properly. I will likely be using Maya to texture the model, as its automatic rigging tool seems useful for completing the necessary unwrapping within the time frame.
The texturing should be completed by Wednesday, March 25th.
