{"id":119,"date":"2015-12-08T15:44:03","date_gmt":"2015-12-08T20:44:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.ubalt.edu\/cpablog\/?p=119"},"modified":"2015-12-08T15:58:54","modified_gmt":"2015-12-08T20:58:54","slug":"ub-and-community-partners-helping-others-to-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubalt.edu\/cpablog\/?p=119","title":{"rendered":"UB and community partners, helping others to win"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_120\" style=\"width: 5194px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ubalt.edu\/cpablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/371\/2015\/12\/IMG_0045.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-120\" class=\"wp-image-120 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ubalt.edu\/cpablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/371\/2015\/12\/IMG_0045.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0045\" width=\"5184\" height=\"3456\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-120\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pictured l. to r. : Donna Glenn (graduate), Dr. Renita Seabrook, LeShone Stevenson (graduate) and Roshanna Turner (graduate).<\/p><\/div>\n<p>On Monday, Dec. 7, friends, family, distinguished guests and members of the UB community gathered to honor and celebrate the\u00a0third graduating class of the &#8220;Reasoning &amp; Rehabilitation 2 For Girls and Young Women&#8221; (R&amp;R2) program. <strong>Donna Glenn<\/strong>, <strong>LeShone Stevenson<\/strong> and <strong>Roshanna Turner <\/strong>were honored for their successful completion of the\u00a0R&amp;R2 class, which is part of Helping Others 2 Win (HO2W),\u00a0an experiential learning environment that gives pre- and post-release adult female offenders the necessary tools for successful reeentry.\u00a0The HO2W program was established by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/ubalt.edu\/cpa\/faculty\/alphabetical-directory\/renita-l-seabrook.cfm\" target=\"_blank\">Renita Seabrook<\/a><\/strong>, associate professor in UB&#8217;s School of Criminal Justice, as part of her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osibaltimore.org\/author\/renitaseabrook\/\" target=\"_blank\">fellowship<\/a> with the Open Society Institute-Baltimore. Seabrook&#8217;s HO2W program is an extension of Alternative Directions, Inc., a Baltimore non-profit\u00a0that helps men and women in prison and those leaving prison, become independent, responsible citizens.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony included a welcome and closing by Dr. Seabrook, remarks from College of Public Affairs Dean <strong>Roger Hartley<\/strong>\u00a0, comments from the graduates and an inspiring message of hope and encouragement delivered by\u00a0guest speaker Senator <strong>Catherine E.
