This will be Asst. Prof. Ayabakan\u2019s second paper to be published in <em>MISQ<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ubalt.edu\/cpablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/371\/2017\/02\/ALyles-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-310 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ubalt.edu\/cpablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/371\/2017\/02\/ALyles-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"198\" height=\"223\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Alan Lyles<\/strong>, professor in the School of Health and Human Services and the School of Public and International Affairs, had his article titled &#8220;Pharmacy Benefit Management Companies: Do They Create Value in the US Healthcare System?&#8221; published in <em>PharmacoEconomics<\/em>, a peer-reviewed journal focused on the application of pharmacoeconomics and quality-of-life assessment to optimum drug therapy and health outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ubalt.edu\/cpablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/371\/2017\/02\/TRichards.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-307 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ubalt.edu\/cpablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/371\/2017\/02\/TRichards.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"198\" height=\"212\" \/><\/a>Tara Richards<\/strong>, assistant professor in the School of Criminal Justice, and her colleagues published an article in the January 31, 2017 issue of\u00a0<em>Annals of Internal Medicine. <\/em>The article is titled, \u201cThe Relationships Among Exposure to Violence, Psychological Distress, and Gun Carrying Among Male Adolescents Found Guilty of Serious Legal Offenses: A Longitudinal Cohort Study.\u201d <em>Annals<\/em> is an academic medical journal published by the American College of Physicians.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ubalt.edu\/cpablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/371\/2017\/02\/UB_SCHAEFERCENTER_Logo_V_Blue.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-311 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ubalt.edu\/cpablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/371\/2017\/02\/UB_SCHAEFERCENTER_Logo_V_Blue.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"131\" height=\"155\" \/><\/a>In 2015, UB\u2019s <strong>Schaefer Center for Public Policy<\/strong> partnered with the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene\u2019s Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Control to evaluate the Maryland Million Hearts program and the successes and barriers of its key partners. The following CPA faculty members\u2014who are also Schaefer Center Faculty Fellows\u2014played a key role in the collection and analysis of the data included in the final report:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sezgin Ayabakan<\/strong>, assistant professor, School of Public and International Affairs<\/li>\n<li><strong>John Callahan<\/strong>, emeritus executive in residence, School of Health and Human Services<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tina DiFranco<\/strong>, executive director, School of Health and Human Services<\/li>\n<li><strong>Carol Molinari<\/strong>, professor, School of Health and Human Services<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ryan Fredriksson, M.P.A. &#8217;16<\/strong>, who works as a research analyst at the Schaefer Center, was also part of the research team.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ubalt.edu\/cpa\/schaefer-center\/projects-and-publications.cfm\" target=\"_blank\">Learn more about the Schaefer Center\u2019s projects and publications.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Debra Stanley<\/strong>, executive director of the School of Criminal Justice, was invited to write the manuscript for a new book about the Maryland criminal justice system, and she, in turn, invited the following SCJ faculty members to help her co-author the book:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Andrea Cantora<\/strong>, assistant professor<\/li>\n<li><strong>Patricia Hall<\/strong>, adjunct faculty<\/li>\n<li><strong>Heather Pfeifer<\/strong>, associate professor<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jeffrey Ian Ross<\/strong>, professor<\/li>\n<li><strong>Renita Seabrook<\/strong>, associate professor<\/li>\n<li><strong>Charles Tumosa<\/strong>, professor of the practice<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gabriela Wasileski<\/strong>, assistant professor<\/li>\n<li><strong>Benjamin Wright<\/strong>, associate professor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Maryland\u2019s Criminal Justice System<\/em> is now available for purchase through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cap-press.com\/books\/isbn\/9781611636956\/Marylands-Criminal-Justice-System\" target=\"_blank\">Carolina Academic Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To learn more about our faculty\u2019s latest scholarship, join us for the <strong>Dean\u2019s Speaker Series<\/strong> where CPA faculty members share their current research with the UB community.
