The Uzbekistani officials are working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on a cooperative agreement to strengthen that country\u2019s Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) surveillance and reporting systems.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ubalt.edu\/cpablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/371\/2022\/09\/Uzbekistan-visit.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-569\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ubalt.edu\/cpablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/371\/2022\/09\/Uzbekistan-visit.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1536\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ubalt.edu\/cpablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/371\/2022\/09\/Uzbekistan-visit.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/blogs.ubalt.edu\/cpablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/371\/2022\/09\/Uzbekistan-visit-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ubalt.edu\/cpablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/371\/2022\/09\/Uzbekistan-visit-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.ubalt.edu\/cpablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/371\/2022\/09\/Uzbekistan-visit-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.ubalt.edu\/cpablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/371\/2022\/09\/Uzbekistan-visit-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/blogs.ubalt.edu\/cpablog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/371\/2022\/09\/Uzbekistan-visit-624x468.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 2048px) 100vw, 2048px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Alan Lyles<\/strong>, a professor in the college\u2019s School of Health and Human Services and School of Public and International Affairs, hosted the Uzbekistani officials, which included the director of the Antimicrobial Center of Uzbekistan\u2019s Research Institute for Epidemiology, Microbiology, and Infectious Diseases, a researcher, an epidemiologist, and the deputy head of the National Medical Center for Specialized Practical Research on Epidemiology, Microbiology, Infectious and Parasitic Diseases. In addition, a three-person team of State Department interpreter-liaisons accompanied them. During their visit, Prof. Lyles delivered a lecture titled \u201cFederalism in the U.S. Experience, with Implications for Uzbekistan\u2019s IVLP project: Antimicrobial Resistance \u2013 A Global Health Crisis.\u201d Lyles\u2019 lecture on federalism serves as an introduction to the federalism issues in U.S. public health, medicine, and research.
