An American Studies graduate of Yale University, she received her Ph.D. in American Studies from Boston University.<span class=\"m_-8772442509036918001Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Nix was part of the steering committee for <\/span><em><span class=\"m_-8772442509036918001s3\">Baltimore &#8217;68, <\/span><\/em><span class=\"m_-8772442509036918001s3\">and w<\/span><span class=\"m_-8772442509036918001s2\">ith project organizers Jessica Elfenbein and Tom Hollowak, she co-edited an anthology entitled\u00a0<\/span><em><span class=\"m_-8772442509036918001s3\">Baltimore \u201968: Riots and Rebirth in an American City<\/span><\/em><span class=\"m_-8772442509036918001s2\">\u00a0(Temple University Press, 2011). \u00a0With Cherstin Lyon and Rebecca Shrum she co-wrote<span class=\"m_-8772442509036918001Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"m_-8772442509036918001s3\"><em>Introduction to Public History: Interpreting the Past, Engaging Audiences <\/em>(Rowman and Littlefield, 2017).\u00a0She has lived with her husband Andy Imparato, a disability-rights advocate, in Baltimore City since 1994 and in Baltimore\u2019s Union Square neighborhood since 2000. Arnold Award for Outstanding Writing on Baltimore History for their article\u00a0\u201cPivot in Perception: The Impact of the 1968 Riots on Three Baltimore Business Districts,\u201d a chapter in the <em>Baltimore &#8217;68<\/em> anthology.
