Getting to Know Carolyn Cox<\/h3>\n

Carolyn Cox is the new Senior Integrated Digital Services Librarian at Langsdale Library.  We’re excited to have her with us and wanted to give her an opportunity to share a little bit about herself here on the blog.<\/div>\n

What do you consider to be your hometown?<\/span><\/b><\/div>\n

Cox:<\/b> I grew up in Valley City, ND. The summers were short and the winters long. I walked uphill both ways to school in snow that was 6 feet deep. \u263a<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

What was your first job?<\/span><\/b><\/div>\n

Cox: <\/b><\/span>My first job was a paper route. We only had papers Monday thru Friday though. Small town, not a lot of news.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

What are your hobbies?<\/span><\/b>
Cox: <\/b><\/span>Many\u2026 Seeing Shakespeare plays, ballroom dancing, reading, dating my husband, traveling, gaming, running, photography, just to name a few.<\/span><\/p>\n

What are some of your favorite books?<\/span><\/b>
Cox:<\/b> <\/span>The Republic<\/i>, by Plato, <\/span><\/span>As I Lay Dying,<\/i> <\/span>by William Faulkner, and anything by Bill Bryson.<\/span><\/p>\n

Movies? TV shows?<\/span><\/b>
Cox: <\/b><\/span>Movies: <\/span><\/span>American Sniper, Guardians of the Galaxy<\/i>, and anything Shakespeare. TV shows: <\/span><\/span>Doctor Who, IT Crowd, Parks & Rec<\/i>, and Jeopardy. There are so many more, but I had to choose.<\/span><\/p>\n

Do you have a collection of any sort?<\/span><\/b>
Cox: <\/b><\/span>Not really. Maybe I should start one. Any suggestions?<\/span><\/p>\n

What are some of your favorite foods?<\/span><\/b>
Cox: <\/b><\/span>Anything my husband cooks. He\u2019s an amazing cook. He\u2019s Cajun and adds just the right amount of spice! Aside from his cooking some of my favorite foods are shrimp \u00e9touff\u00e9e (which we make together), sushi and chocolate.<\/span><\/p>\n

What do you like best about UB so far?<\/span><\/b>
Cox: <\/b><\/span>That everyone has been so welcoming, friendly, and complimentary of their colleagues.<\/span><\/p>\n

What do you like best about Baltimore?<\/span><\/b>
Cox: <\/b><\/span>That there is so much to do.<\/span><\/p>\n

For your a.m. fix, do you prefer tea or coffee?<\/span><\/b>
Cox: <\/b><\/span>Tea. Typically a cup of English Breakfast, but any black tea with caffeine will do.<\/span><\/p>\n

If I didn\u2019t work in a library, I\u2019d probably\u2026<\/span><\/b>
