As Women’s History Month is underway, the RLB Library would like to highlight contributions made by women.<\/p>\n

We have curated this Libguide<\/a> to draw attention to resources recognizing\u00a0 the numerous contributions made by women in their communities, nationally, and around the world. The guide<\/a> is sectioned in to four parts: Books & Media<\/a>, Special Collections & Archives<\/a>, Articles & More<\/a>, and Websites<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Books & Media<\/a> section features selected print and digital items from RLB’s Catalog. It begins with a link to search the thousands of eBooks available from Ebscohost<\/a> through the library. Then moves on to books on women’s history, feminism, women in STEM, women’s literature, award-winning fiction by women, and more.<\/p>\n

“Data is fundamental to the modern world. From economic development, to healthcare, to education and public policy, we rely on numbers to allocate resources and make crucial decisions. But because so much data fails to take into account gender, because it treats men as the default and women as atypical, bias and discrimination are baked into our systems. And women pay tremendous costs for this bias, in time, money, and often with their lives.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The Special Collections & Archives<\/a>\u00a0page highlights exclusive archival collections held by the University of Baltimore Special Collections & Archives.<\/p>\n

This section of the LibGuide lists several collections from the archives that highlight or have a focus on women with links to their finding aids for researchers. The LibGuide also includes links to several digital exhibits highlighting collections from the archives. Two of the digital exhibits were curated by recent interns in the UB Special Collections & Archives. Through the LibGuide, you can learn more about the 100th<\/sup> anniversary of the League of Women Voters of Baltimore City and the 2020 centennial of the 19th<\/sup> amendment in the United States with a link to the digital exhibit: The League of Women Voters: The Legacy of Suffrage<\/a>. Additionally, through the LibGuide you can learn about the history of the Baltimore Dance Theater and its leader, Eva Anderson, with a link to the digital exhibit forEva: A Tribute to Baltimore Dance Theater<\/a>. The Articles & More<\/a> page offers a snapshot of the expansive digital academic journals, books, magazine trade publications, book reviews and so much more, availed by the University of Baltimore’s Library Search feature, available from the library’s homepage.<\/a>\u00a0The title below is one example of an eBook from the academic databases accessible by the main search function on the library’s page.<\/p>\n

The Websites<\/a> page presents additional resources from around the web including the Women’s History Month web page by the Library of Congress, National Archives,\u00a0and Records Administration, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. It also presented some events honoring Maryland women, organized by the Maryland Commission for Women.<\/p>\n
