In celebration of Women\u2019s History Month, UB Special Collections & Archives<\/strong><\/a> is highlighting some of the many important and influential women from right here in Baltimore and University of Baltimore. Today, learn about the writing of UB graduate, Carol Boston Weatherford.<\/p>\n

Carol Boston Weatherford is an award winning author, poet, essayist, and critic who earned her Master of Arts in Publication Design in 1982 right here at the University of Baltimore. Among her impressive bibliography of published works is the novel, <\/span>Becoming Billie Holliday<\/span><\/i>, and the poem <\/span>Moses: When Harriet Tubman Led Her People to Freedom. <\/span><\/i>E<\/span>ach of these works highlights inspirational historical figures admired by Weatherford and revered in Baltimore. Weatherford continues her work today, educating through her writing and providing a literary voice of recognition to Black American youth.<\/span><\/p>\n

While attending the University of Baltimore, Weatherford contributed to our very own literary publication,\u00a0Welter<\/em>, during her time here. UB Special Collections and Archives keeps many digitized versions of these publications in our digital exhibits. You can find poetry written by Weatherford (then Carole Boston), in the 1981 edition of Welter <\/em>in our archives finding aid database.<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n
