{"id":622,"date":"2009-10-16T18:42:00","date_gmt":"2009-10-16T18:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.ubalt.edu\/library\/2009\/10\/16\/google-scholar\/"},"modified":"2018-07-18T21:30:11","modified_gmt":"2018-07-18T21:30:11","slug":"google-scholar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ubalt.edu\/library\/2009\/10\/16\/google-scholar\/","title":{"rendered":"Google Scholar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ve mentioned <a href=\"http:\/\/scholar.google.com\/\">Google Scholar<\/a> on this blog a <a href=\"http:\/\/langsdale.ubalt.edu\/news\/2005\/11\/finding-google-scholar-ub.html\">couple<\/a> of <a href=\"http:\/\/langsdale.ubalt.edu\/news\/2006\/11\/find-it-at-ub-through-google-scholar.html\">times<\/a> before, but many students haven&#8217;t heard of it yet, it&#8217;s worth mentioning again. <\/p>\n<p>Google Scholar is a specialized search engine that searches the kinds of sources that professors want students to use: scholarly or academic material on the Web.  A search in Google Scholar won&#8217;t get you random websites; it will get you scholarly journal articles, conference papers, academic books, research reports, and other good stuff.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike the main Google search engine, not everything in Google Scholar is available for free on the Web. Langsdale Library has a solution though.  If you go into the <a href=\"http:\/\/scholar.google.com\/scholar_preferences\">Preferences<\/a> section of Google Scholar, there&#8217;s an option called &#8220;Library Links&#8221; that will add the &#8220;Find it at UB&#8221; button to your search results so you can access Langsdale Library&#8217;s subscriptions to online journals.<\/p>\n<p>Want to know more?
