The Entangled Muses, McBrien<\/p><\/div>\n

Aunt Lynn\u2019s Painted Ladies<\/strong><\/h1>\n

You promised me butterflies,<\/span><\/p>\n

But all I received was a caterpillar\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n

Small, ugly, and creeping,<\/span><\/p>\n

A tiny, wriggling thing.<\/span><\/p>\n

You told me to be patient,<\/span><\/p>\n

So I waited, feeding her daily,<\/span><\/p>\n

Nurturing her hidden potential.<\/span><\/p>\n

Days passed, and she vanished,<\/span><\/p>\n

I found her then, encased<\/span><\/p>\n

In a cocoon\u2014brown and gray,<\/span><\/p>\n

A secret wrapped in silence,<\/span><\/p>\n

Waiting, waiting as you advised.<\/span><\/p>\n

One day, she emerged,<\/span><\/p>\n

Wings bespeckled,<\/span><\/p>\n

Orange and black,<\/span><\/p>\n

Yearning to soar.<\/span><\/p>\n

So, I let her fly away,<\/span><\/p>\n

Not knowing you\u2019d soon follow.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now, both of you drift,<\/span><\/p>\n

Gone from my grasp.<\/span><\/p>\n
