Man with a Parrot<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Too yellow for shadows at rest\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

a city broadside, a summer dusk:<\/span><\/p>\n

still on the promenade<\/span><\/p>\n

bench, toward the sun as the others,<\/span><\/p>\n

phalanx of faces aflame, strobing<\/span><\/p>\n

as the exercisers flit before them,<\/span><\/p>\n

he in sunglasses crosses arms, sits<\/span><\/p>\n

motionless as the bird on his shoulder<\/span><\/p>\n

flinches with every tick of action:<\/span><\/p>\n

parched trumpet of the cycles braking,<\/span><\/p>\n

soccer ball dull against the child\u2019s foot,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

jangle of the leashes of the pure<\/span><\/p>\n

breeds, vibrations of light. But dodging\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

in the shaken air, untethered, clipped\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

or not, it never claps a wing\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n

just the pinning in place,<\/span><\/p>\n

the nodding on the shoulder<\/span><\/p>\n

of a man like the others\u2014perched<\/span><\/p>\n

and glazing, home enough in the city\u2019s<\/span><\/p>\n

moving shadows to hold\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

course, search for no reasons,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

their secrets their referents their own.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
