Examples of engagement and impact of this theme beyond faculty research:

  • In partnership with the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, we brought 21 international entrepreneurship scholars to Baltimore to engage and learn from grass roots, community entrepreneurs during the annual MSB Effectuation Conference titled “Social Effectuation: Addressing Urban Poverty Through Entrepreneurship.”
  • Thirty students graduated from the MSB Entrepreneurship Fellows program, an innovation in entrepreneurship education funded by the Ratcliffe Foundation. As part of their B.S.B.A. education, students launch a business, with for-credit courses adapted to apply to their businesses.
  • The Global Business Challenge embeds students with entrepreneurial organizations across the globe.
  • Over past 5 years, the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI):
    • Has supported the efforts of more than 850 entrepreneurs, on a one-time or ongoing basis, to discuss, validate and, in many cases, launch a new business venture.
    • Provided more than $125,000 in prize money to more than 60 participants in our two annual investor pitch competitions.
    • Conducted more than 50 workshops and seminars in a variety of areas, helping more than 350 participants hone their entrepreneurial talents.
    • Helped more than a half-dozen student-led companies raise nearly $2 million in funding and sales and employ more than 30 people.
