UDOIT Courses, Workshops and Support

The University of Baltimore (UBalt) is enhancing accessibility in its online courses for the Fall 2024 term. UBalt is using a Canvas tool called the Universal Design Online Inspection Tool (UDOIT) to spot and help you fix any accessibility problems in your previous courses. We’re starting with the courses from Fall 2023 as our starting point to see how we improve over time.

When you first use the UDOIT tool on a course, UDOIT will point out some accessibility errors. Don’t worry, though! Our team at CELTT is here to help you interpret your UDOIT report. We’re setting up workshops and one-on-one meetings to explain what these reports mean and how to fix the issues. The CELTT team will contact instructors directly whose courses indicate more significant accessibility challenges.

To support our faculty further, CELTT will rollout workshops on how to create accessible learning materials like documents, presentations, images, and even PDFs. We’re also introducing an online course and a video guide to tackle the errors UDOIT finds directly.

We’ll spread the word about these tools and workshops through the CELTT newsletter and emails to all teaching staff, including our adjunct faculty advisory council. Our aim is to get everyone involved and informed about making our courses as accessible as possible.

If any faculty members run into trouble along the way, help is just a ticket request away in Canvas. If faculty need additional support, they can contact the UDOIT team by phone at (385) 404-6444 Monday through Friday from 10 am through 7:00 pm (EST) or email at support@cidilabs.com.   We’re committed to providing ongoing support to ensure our educational content is accessible to every student.

Thank you,
