Bee Real Episode 5: Fitting College Into Life

The first Bee Real podcast episode of the semester is out! This conversation brings two UBalt students together to share their experiences navigating higher education as non-traditional students. From balancing work and family responsibilities to finding support for neurodivergence and mental health, they reflect on what makes UBalt a uniquely supportive place for students forging their own paths.

As UBalt celebrates its centennial, conversations about the university’s future are happening across campus. What will the next 100 years look like? How can UBalt continue to evolve? One student in this episode offers a clear perspective:

“Honestly, UBalt isn’t a ‘normal’ university—and that’s a good thing. We should lean into that. We have 5:30-8:00 classes, we have students who are parents, students who are returning after years away… that’s what makes this place different.”

Their discussion highlights accessibility, the power of community, and the value of a university that truly understands its students. UBalt’s strength has always been its ability to meet students where they are, and as we look ahead to the university’s next chapter, these perspectives are more relevant than ever.

Now, we’re looking ahead to our next episode, and we’d love to feature faculty voices! For our March episode, we’re inviting two faculty members to join us for a conversation that will be released alongside the next edition of the CELTT newsletter. If you’re interested in sharing your experiences, insights, or perspectives on teaching at UBalt, let us know—we’d love to have you join the discussion!
