Focus on Digital Accessibility

This October, CELTT’s Power Hours are putting a spotlight on digital accessibility—and we want YOU to be a part of it!

Themed Power Hours: Hands-On Accessibility How-Tos

Our Themed Power Hours this month will guide you through the “how-to” of making your classroom content accessible to all learners. Whether you’re creating documents, videos, or interactive course materials, we’ll show you step-by-step techniques that ensure your content meets universal design standards. These sessions are designed to give you practical, actionable skills you can apply right away. Here’s what’s coming up:

  • October 15, 2024 – Making Accessible Documents
Learn how to create ADA-compliant Word documents, PDFs, and other formats that ensure your materials are accessible for all students. We’ll explore key tools and techniques, from formatting and alternative text to using Microsoft’s Accessibility Checker.
  • October 22, 2024 – Making Accessible Videos
Discover how to caption your videos, add subtitles using platforms like Panopto and YouTube, and ensure your video content is inclusive. We’ll cover accessibility settings in popular video creation tools and how to apply them effectively.

Partner Power: Showcasing Accessibility in Action

The Partner Power Hours are where theory meets practice. We’re inviting faculty who have successfully integrated accessibility into their teaching to share real-world examples. This is your chance to learn from your colleagues, see how accessibility tools can be applied across disciplines, and ask questions about what works in their classrooms.

Are you using digital accessibility tools in your classroom? We’d love for you to showcase your work during our Partner Power Hour on October 29, 2024! Whether you’re just getting started or have years of experience, your insights can make a huge impact. Interested in leading a session or sharing your experiences? Reach out by submitting a CELTT ticket, and let’s collaborate to make UBalt classrooms more accessible for everyone!
