Generative AI has now brought the older disciple of knowledge management and software agents to the fore, but in a radically different form. The new generative AI tools are starting to redefine knowledge tasks and automation in a myriad of ways. This talk will apply a metaphor taken from microbiology, metabolism, and examines how knowledge management and AI are combining in new ways. This talk will discuss the practical implications for managing knowledge in this new world, including managing intellectual property protection, privacy, safety, quality control, agents, regulation and most importantly, linkages to measurable outcomes and productivity gains.

The University of Baltimore’s Bank of America Center for Excellence in Learning, Teaching and Technology (CELTT) created the AI in Practice webinar series in partnership with the UBalt’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, The Johns Hopkins University and University of Maryland Baltimore County to connect faculty with industry leaders working with artificial intelligence in various fields.
