Beta Alpha Psi Helps Local First Graders
The University of Baltimore Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi International recently organized a fall service project to benefit Frederick Elementary School, a Title I charter school in Baltimore.
This is part of a larger community service program sponsored by the national office of Beta Alpha Psi and KPMG. Jason Barber, secretary of BAP, worked with Najah Hameed from FES to find out the items most needed by first graders at Frederick Elementary as well as by teachers. Members assembled packages for students that included crayons, colored pencils, erasers, glue sticks, and sticky notes. We also put together gift bags for all teachers in the school that included sanitizing wipes, hand sanitizer gel, tissues, and sticky notes.
The Chapter hopes to continue this relationship in the future by participating at career and financial literacy events.
The UBalt BAP Chapter is the most active School of Business organization. Beta Alpha Psi is an honor organization for financial information students and professionals. Nationally, there are over 300 chapters on college and university campuses with over 300,000 members initiated since Beta Alpha Psi’s formation.
