From Summit to Series: Making Progress with Generative AI
Last school year, UBalt made significant strides in integrating generative AI into higher education. The AI Summit this summer was a key highlight, uniting educators and industry experts to explore AI’s transformative potential in the classroom. Our faculty speakers engaged in meaningful discussions, gained valuable insights, and began applying AI-driven strategies to their teaching and learning practices. Building on that success, we’re committed to sustaining this momentum into the new academic year with more opportunities to advance AI literacy and innovation.
We’re excited to introduce the AI in Practice webinar series, starting September 11, 2024 at 12:00 PM EST. In partnership with UBalt’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, The Johns Hopkins University, and University of Maryland Baltimore County, this monthly series will explore how AI can influence both what we teach and how we approach teaching this fall. Each session will feature industry leaders offering insights that can inspire the integration of meaningful AI literacy into our courses. Our first session will feature Jason Michael Perry, whose extensive experience in leading AI projects across various sectors makes him an invaluable resource for staying ahead of the curve in AI-impacted education.
In addition to the webinar series, our From Chalkboards to Chatbots courses have been updated for Fall 2024. These asynchronous courses are designed to help faculty and students effectively integrate AI tools in the classroom. Faculty can enroll to gain strategies for incorporating AI into their teaching, while students can learn how to leverage these tools to enhance their learning experiences. We’re also excited to announce an upcoming AI Professional Learning Community from CELTT, launching later this fall. This community will offer a collaborative space for faculty to share best practices and deepen their understanding of AI in higher education.
