Support FAQs
How do I request a theme or plugin to be installed?
Some of the more popular themes and plugins are already installed. If you wish to have a custom theme added, please visit the Request a Theme or Plugin page. Requests for new themes and plugins will be reviewed before they are installed.
How long will my site stay active?
All sites will remain active as long as you are an active UB student, staff, or faculty member. Student sites will also stay active for two semesters after you stop being an active student at UB.
Can I backup my site?
Yes. WordPress has a built-in export function that will generate an XML file with all of your posts and content. From your WordPress dashboard, hover over the “Tools” menu and select “Export”.
What kind of content can I host or share?
Users are free to upload many different file types, including many major image and document formats. You are limited to 50MB per upload and a total of 1GB of storage for your entire site.
What kind of questions can OTS help me with?
OTS will gladly assist in any issues relating to the setup or access of your blog site. Unfortunately, we cannot assist with common web design or development questions. For more information, please view the Need Help? section of this site.
How do I embed a video with an iframe?
UB Blogs utilizes a special plugin that converts from a WordPress shortcode to the corresponding iframe HTML. To include a video that uses an iframe, change the iframe HTML into a shortcode. For example:
Sample HTML Embed:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/nKIu9yen5nc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Converted to a WordPress Shortcode:

[iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/nKIu9yen5nc" frameborder="0"]
