Temptation of Saint Anthony

GJ Gillespie

An overlay of colors, human figures, and shapes.

GJ Gillespie is a collage artist living in a 1928 Tudor Revival farmhouse overlooking Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island, WA. In addition to natural beauty, he is inspired by art history—especially mid-century abstract expressionism. The “Northwest Mystics” who produced haunting images from this region 60 years ago are favorites. A prolific artist with over 20 awards to his name, Gillespie’s work has been exhibited in 62 shows and appeared in more than 120 publications. Beyond his studio practice, Gillespie channels his passion for art by running Leda Art Supply, a company specializing in premium sketchbooks. Whether conjuring vivid collage compositions or enabling other artists through exceptional tools, Gillespie remains dedicated to the transformative power of art.
