Fall 2026 Call for Submissions: Connection
Open until October 8
or until cap is reached
What are you connected to? What sticks when the moment is gone? The Welter team wants to hear from writers and artists for our Fall 2026 digital edition. We are seeking submissions of fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, and visual art that respond to the theme: Connection.
For poetry submissions: send 1–3 poems, with each poem a maximum of one page in length. Please use page breaks between poems. Submissions will be capped at 150 entries.
For fiction AND creative nonfiction submissions: send only 1 piece, up to 1500 words. Please double-space your work. Submissions will be capped at 150 entries.
For all written submissions, please submit in .pdf or .docx format and use a standard, legible font (i.e. Times New Roman, Garamond, etc.).
For visual art submissions, Welter is looking for diverse interpretations, including minimal styles, quick sketches, photography (color or black and white), and/or any visual work that tells a story. Send up to 5 artworks in .jpeg format at 300dpi, or GIF animations.
We value human creativity and therefore do not accept any work that was generated by AI.
We accept simultaneous submissions, but please notify us if your work is selected for publication elsewhere. We do not accept previously published work, including on social media sites.
Welter publishes twice a year: a print journal in the spring and an online issue in the fall.
