Boiled Rocks

She Walks in Starlight by Jennifer Frederick

Boiled Rocks

Caitie Young

she stood in the

kitchen, staring at

the pot, the boiling

of the water

screamed,

pop

      sizzle

pop,

there was steam,

and there was the

pop

       pop

             pop,

of her laughter,

of the rocks,

sweet hysteria

because boiling a rock

will not make it soft.
