Spring 2026 Call for Submissions: FLASH

Open February 9–March 1
or until cap is reached

We’re placing an emphasis on brevity with our upcoming print issue and encourage writers to send us their best flash works. Submissions will be capped. Genre-specific guidelines are below.

For poetry submissions, we are considering all forms of poetry—including haikus, sonnets, tankas, free verse, etc.—as long as it is less than 1 page. Send 1–3 previously unpublished poems, each poem no more than a page. Please use page breaks between poems.

For fiction and creative nonfiction submissions, send 1 piece of previously unpublished flash up to 750 words.

For all written submissions, please submit in .pdf or .docx format and use a standard, legible font (i.e. Times New Roman, Garamond, etc.). All work should be previously unpublished, including on social media sites. We do not accept work that has been generated by AI in any way.

For visual art submissions, we are encouraging artists to send us their best work inspired by the concept of flash. We’re open to diverse interpretations of this prompt, including minimal styles, quick sketches, photography (color or black and white), and/or any visual work that tells a story.

Send up to 3 artworks in .jpeg format at 300dpi. We are unfortunately unable to consider time-based media for this call. Work should be previously unpublished in a literary journal, but may have appeared before on the artist’s website or social media. We do not accept work that has been generated by AI in any way.
