The National Council of Public Historians awarded the Baltimore ’68 Riots and Rebirth Conference with the 2009 NCPH Outstanding Project Award for excellence in work that contributes to a broader public reflection and appreciation of the past and that serves as a model of professional public history practice.
Tom Hollowak, Associate Director for Special Collections (far left in photo) received the award on April 3 at the Council’s annual conference with conference coordinators Jessica Elfenbein, Elizabeth Nix, Kimberley Lynne and Christina Ralls.
Tom also participated in a panel discussion, Community Perspectives: Commemorating Riots & Rebirth in Baltimore & Newark with his UB colleagues and staff from the Newark Historical Society on April 2.
