Langsdale for Mobile

Langsdale Library is working on a page for mobile phones.  The information is designed to display on even the smallest WAP enabled cell phones and includes our current hours, address and contact information.  Smartphone users will be able to take advantage of a few more features, such as the ability to search for books through Worldcat Local Mobile and search for articles through EBSCO Mobile and see a Google Map of the Langsdale’s location.

The page is in “beta”  mode right now, and we would love to get feedback on it.  What else would you like to see or do on Langsdale’s mobile website?  Let us know by commenting on this post or sending an email to mshochet@ubalt.edu.

  1. This is great but what we really need is a mobile or app-based interface to the library catalog. Many times I've wandered the library looking for a terminal so I could figure our where something was.

  2. Thanks for the feedback. We had thought of that but there are some unfortunate logistical barriers that have made this difficult to implement so far. We might be able to work on it in the fall. We also wanted our catalog to be able to send a call number via text, but that may be harder to get working than an app.

I need to look at the Worldcat Mobile app more closely, it is possible that may give you the call number of a book, but I am not sure.

In the mean time, we do have one "catalog only" terminal on the 2nd and 3rd floors of Langsdale. It is less than perfect, but you should at least be able to look up a call number without having to go to another floor.
