Baltimore Heritage, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that works in a variety of ways to preserve and bring awareness to the many historic buildings and neighborhoods in Baltimore. They’ve built an excellent mapping tool for viewing details of some of Baltimore’s historic gems.
One of the resources available through their website is a fantastic research guide called “How to Research the History of Your House or Neighborhood.” The guide divides the search into phases (“Where do I start?”) or you can search for a particular business, architect, or theme. Going further, it explains where and how to find maps and pictures.
