On November 2, 2016 at 6:30 pm, MedChi is hosting a lecture entitled Marcia, the Friendly Ghost, about Marcia Crocker Noyes, the librarian who lived and worked at MedChi for 50 years, and who still inhabits the building today.
MJ Tooey, the AVP, Academic Affair, and Executive Director at the UM Health Sciences Human Services Library will speak on Marcia’s influence in the library field, including the founding of the Medical Library Association, whose highest award is given each year in Marcia’s name.
Meg Fielding, Director of Development, Center for a Healthy Maryland will discuss the ethereal aspect of Marcia, including sightings, experiences and other super-natural happenings here in our
offices, all attributable to Marcia.
Jieyu Zhang, an MFA candidate at MICA, will be presenting a zine she has created as part of her course work through a slide show. She has visited MedChi several times, interviewed the staff and toured the building. We are so pleased to have her as part of the lecture and will be adding a copy of the zine to our historic archives.
The event will begin at 6:30 in MedChi’s Ostler Hall 1211 Cathedral Street
Admission is $5. For reservations email: events@MedChi.org
