Langsdale Library’s Special Collections department’s WMAR collection was featured in a recent Baltimore Examiner article. The collection consists mostly of reels of 16mm film shot by WMAR for use in their nightly news broadcasts and goes back yo 1948.
Because the film is old and has been spliced together, viewing the film through a projector is essentially impossible. So Langsdale Library and the University of Baltimore is pursuing funding to have a potion of the film digitized and made available for people to view. The amount of film is so extensive, that even with a grant we would only be able to digitize a small portion of our collection.
