Midterms: A Few Tips

Its midterm season again, one of the most intense times on campus! The lines at Starbucks seem to be longer, all your favorite study spots are taken, and suddenly there aren’t enough hours in a day. If that isn’t bad enough, all you can think about is what you’re going to be doing for Spring Break.

You’re not alone. Here are a few tips to get you through it.

•Time management: Before you begin studying, plan what you need to study and schedule when you’re going to study. Stick to the schedule.

•Schedule in study breaks: Once you have a study schedule, allow yourself a few study breaks between each session. You can do a number of things on your study break like stretching, eating a snack, take a quick walk, listen to two of your favorite songs, or read a magazine. Do not get on any social networking sites during these breaks.

•Make sure you’re sleeping: Do your best to not to pull an “all-nighter.” Your brain will thank you.

•Collaborate with a few peers and create a study group. Langsdale Library has plenty of space for you and a few friends to study. In fact we have three floors dedicated to group study, the basement, first and second floors.

•Do not be afraid to ask for help: If you don’t understand something, schedule an appointment with your professor. You may also come to Langsdale where a librarian can assist you with research.

•Stay positive!
