The RLB Library Collaborates with Several Art Institutions to Host a Hip-Hop Tour Celebrating Local Art and Culture

ARTCLUSIVE SERIES: BEATS PER MINUTE
THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF HIP HOP;
BALTIMORE’S (UNTOLD) CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CULTURE

 Baltimore’s cultural scene is undergoing a rebirth. The ARTclusive Series of “club music, hip hop, and contemporary art” highlights the diverse artistic influences from the past. It emphasizes the significant impact Baltimore has had on the culture. Hip-hop has been a cultural force for half a century, inspiring countless artists, musicians, and writers to express themselves through this vibrant and dynamic art form. To celebrate this milestone anniversary, we are thrilled to be able to share the powerful message of how Baltimore City influenced Hip-Hop with a series of programs that includes:

Traveling exhibition
Exclusive look at two inspiring documentaries about the birth of Hip-Hop and club music in Baltimore
Artists talk throughout the city with Hip-hop historians and legends of Baltimore who help create the Baltimore Club music scene.
Featured at Festivals, block parties, and live performances


The first Tour Stop is on April 22nd at Baltimore Center Stage for a FREE artist talk with:

  • Documentary filmmaker and Hip-Hop Historian Larry Caudle Owner
  • Founder of The Paradox nightclub Wayne Davis
  • Visual Artist, Author, Music Artist Darrin Keith Bastfield (BSA 88″) who will share a recording of Tupac rapping at age 15.
  • Producer and DJ Rod Lee
