ongoing debate about e-textbooks

Last week our student liaison posted a question on the blog about students’ feelings about ebooks and ereaders. Langsdale is considering having a few ereaders available for check out. Interestingly, I just read an story in the New York Times regarding students’ disinterest in ebooks. I encourage you to read the story and let us know what you think!

  1. E-textbooks are an incredibly green way to go! Many 'new' textbook editions might have very few changes but your class may require only the latest edition. You lose the choice of buying a used edition and what happens to all of those 'old' books? If the use of e-textbooks caught on, just think how much easier it would be to change the text and offer a new edition without the paper waste!
